I received my Legal half-yearly exam back yesterday. I did pretty well with 60/70 and a rank of #2. I received my Business back today, and I also did pretty well with 53/65, and a rank unknown to me. Although, judging from people's marks in my class, i can only assume that my rank would be pretty darn high. I also heard Mr. Forrester say that some people should reconsider their options before continuing with the class, which can only lead me to believe that some people did really badly. And yes, as i predicted, these marks did bring me much needed reassurance. It was also pleasing to hear Ms. Webster tell me that i got full marks in the third section of the RE exam, and 12/15 in the first part of the [paper 1] English exam.
Tommy, Phillip, myself and Daniel Dambrosio have been trying to write a basic plot for a [spoof] movie that Mr. Martin wants to show at the Musical spectacular in three weeks (a replacement for the annual musical). I think we've done pretty well so far, with a strong plot nearly finished. I'm just hoping that we don't have to actually be involved in shooting the movie, i assumed we were just the writers, but i was informed today that we will be involved in shooting it. There's nothing more that i hate than missing periods, especially ones where you have to catch up on work, so i hope that we are not missing periods. I would even rather stay back after school and help shoot it than miss periods (as long as i don't miss Big Brother of course).
We've started studying Othello in Advanced English and it's considerably hard to follow (but what Shakespeare play isn't?). Although, it's not as difficult once you read over the lines a few times, and it really sinks in. Ms. Webster also informed us that we would be soon receiving an Advanced assignment and an Extension Assignment - great. That means i'll have five assignments, out of the seven subjects i do, and i haven't started one of them. Hopefully i'll be able to make a start this weekend.
It's not long until the weekend, and i could really use the day off. Phillip and I found out tonight that the Rogue Traders are doing an instore/performance at Channel Seven studios on Monday (Queen's Birthday); so obviously, we are going to go. It's quite early, but who wouldn't get up at the crack of dawn for Natalie Bassingthwaighte?
Now, to a completely different topic:
Today in Legal Studies, Ms. Curis was reading out our ranks for our half yearly report. She said that if anybody didn't want their rank read out, she would ask them beforehand. So she started by reading out our ranks and it turns out that she had calculated wrong, and that the ranks she was reading out were in fact wrong. She quickly got confused and decided to just read out our marks (out of 100). She was sailing through the marks, and she got to a student who's mark was 13. Tommy and I were now the ones confused, we honestly thought that she had read the rank. So we started laughing at Ms. Curis's mistake (as we usually do). Although, nobody else was laughing, i didn't understand why. Then suddenly Ms. Curis got angry and gave me a deadly stare (at the time, i had no idea what for). Not only this, but everyone starts calling us slack and bagging us out. At the time, i honestly didn't have a clue why, as i was SURE that Ms. Curis had read the wrong thing out. I was utterly confused, and i must admit, embarassed. Afterwards, Ms. Curis revealed to Tommy and I that she didn't read out the rank, but that that was his actual mark. Extreme guilt/embarassment/anger/confusion suddenly came over me, all infused into one. Unlike Tommy, i AM blaming confusion and Ms. Curis reading out the mark without asking the student first.
I wouldn't be surprised if i never opened my mouth in Legal Studies again.
